Meet the Staff Jeff grew up in Los Angeles, California, and then moved to rural Arkansas when he was sixteen years old. After high school, he attended Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, and majored in Religion. Following graduation from Hendrix in 1986, he received a Master’s degree in African-American Religious History and Religious Thought from Vanderbilt University's Divinity School. Toward the end of his time at Vanderbilt, God graciously drew him to Himself. After his years in Nashville, he moved to Philadelphia and attended Westminster Theological Seminary. During his time in Philly (on July 7, 1991), he married Cathy Green, whom he had met at Vanderbilt, and they had their first daughter, Micah (on June 2, 1995). In June of 1996, Cathy, Micah and Jeff moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he served as associate pastor to families and youth for the next eight years. Many wonderful things happened during those eight years, most notably, the births of their son Asher (on June 29, 1997) and second daughter Anna Grace (on March 1, 2000). They absolutely loved Fort Worth, and they loved their church, but in early 2004, after much prayer and many conversations, they concluded that God was calling them to leave Fort Worth so that Jeff could serve as the next RUF campus minister at North Carolina State University. For the past five years, Jeff has served as the RUF campus minister at NC State. It’s been an absolute delight! During their time there, they have seen the ministry grow from a handful of students into a thriving ministry. They have seen, first-hand, the accomplishment of RUF’s purpose, reaching students for Christ and equipping them to serve. As much as they enjoyed their time in Raleigh, this past year, as a family, they began to consider the possibility that God might be calling them to leave Raleigh. Again, after much prayer and many conversations, they concluded that God was calling them to Cookeville, Tennessee where Jeff now serves as the RUF campus minister at Tennessee Tech. |
